CAC:

Our next CAC meeting will be held at the Lee District Government Center on Franconia Road on Wednesday evening, October 19, 2005, in the big meeting room.  A Social Period begins at 7pm, with the General Meeting beginning at 7:30pm..

MODIP:

The Fairfax County Police Department offers residents 55 years of age and older enrollment in the Mature Operator’s Driver Improvement Program (MODIP). This eight hour course, which provides safe driving information, is sanctioned by the American Automobile Association (AAA) and is presented by certified Fairfax County Auxiliary Police Officers.  Upon completion of this course, drivers are eligible for the Virginia State-mandated insurance premium reduction (check with individual insurance carriers for the amount). The classes are normally held the second Saturday of each month at the Franconia District Station. The next seminars are scheduled at the Franconia District Station, located at 6121 Franconia Road, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.on November 12, and December 10, 2005.  Registration is required and can be done by contacting the MODIP reservations line at (703) 924-6588. The fee for this course is $10.00 per person for books and materials.

Weekly Incident Summary Report
October 6-12, 2005

SEXUAL ASSAULT:  On Friday, October 7 around 11:30 p.m., a 23-year-old Springfield-area woman was awake in bed at her home in the 6800 block of Clowser Court. The woman heard the back door open and went to investigate. She found a man in her home. He sexually assaulted her and then fled. The suspect was described as a Hispanic man, 22 to 24 years old, approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing around 165 pounds. He had short black hair and was wearing a white T-shirt and dark colored pants.

MALICIOUS WOUNDING:  On Saturday, October 8 at approximately 10 p.m., two groups of men met near the intersection of Flat Rock Court and Flat Rock Road to confront each other regarding a previous conflict. A fight began as soon as both groups arrived. A 19-year-old Burke area-man was attacked from behind, thrown against a car and slashed on his back. The suspect assailants fled before police arrived. The victim was transported to Inova Fairfax hospital with non life-threatening injuries. Police are continuing their investigation.
