ROBBERY

Springfield Mall 6500

An Alexandria area woman, 20, employed at the Bags-2-Go store was behind the counter when a man approached, placed a knife to her side and demanded money. The victim opened the register and the suspect removed cash and checks. The suspect ran from the mall into the parking lot.

IMPERSONATE

Franconia Springfield Parkway

A 19-year-old woman traveling southbound on the Franconia Springfield Parkway was pulled over by a silver or champagne colored vehicle with red and blue lights flashing and a siren sounding. The woman pulled to the side of the road and activated her vehicle's hazard lights. She heard a male voice tell her to turn off her vehicle's lights and exit her vehicle with her hands on her head. The woman complied and as she stood there on the side of the road, the suspect vehicle drove past her and as it did, she heard laughter coming from the occupants.

ANIMAL RELATED INCIDENTS

Cruelty to Animals

On August 24 at 2:00 p.m., a citizen reported a dog in distress inside a Ford Explorer. As an Animal Control officer arrived, the owner returned to her vehicle. The dog, a female German Shepherd named "Chloe," was removed from the vehicle in grave condition. Chloe was taken to Springfield Emergency Veterinary Clinic where she died as a result of being left in a hot car for more than two hours while the owner got her hair done. Nancy Thoma, 51, of 9177 Rosemary Lena Way in the Woodlawn area was charged with cruelty to animals.
