ANIMAL RELATED INCIDENTS

Cruelty to Animals

Fairfax County Police Animal Control arrested 51-year-old Nancy Thoma, of 9177 Rosemary Lena Way in the Woodlawn area, after an incident that occurred about 2:00 p.m. Saturday.   A passerby noticed a dog in distress in a Ford Explorer parked in a lot near Beulah Street and Franconia Road in the Franconia area and called police.  An animal control officer arrived as the owner came back to the car.  The dog, a female German Shepherd named "Chloe," was removed from the car in grave condition.  Investigation revealed that the dog was left in the car for at least two hours while Thoma was getting her hair done.  The dog was transported to the Springfield Emergency Veterinary Clinic where it later died.  Thoma was charged with cruelty to animals.
