The next meeting of the Franconia District Citizens Advisory Committee will A PICNIC -- 6:00pm, at the Coast Guard Station on Telegraph Road. You will need to call 703-922-8263 to make your reservations no later than July 11th. Everyone who will be attending will need to get an entry and parking pass so the vehicle can enter the Coast Guard facility. The passes will be provided by the Crime Prevention Office at the station.
Mature Operator's Driver Improvement Program (MODIP)
The Franconia District Station of the Fairfax County Police Department will be offering Virginia residents 55 and older enrollment in the Mature Operator's Driver Improvement Program (MODIP). This eight hour class covers safe driving information for mature drivers. The course is sanctioned by the American Automobile Association (AAA) and is presented by certified Fairfax County Auxiliary Police Officers. Upon completion of this course, drivers are eligible for the Virginia State mandated insurance premium reduction (check with individual insurance carriers for the amount). The classes are held the second Saturday of each month.
The next MODIP class is being held at the Franconia District Station located at 6121 Franconia Road, on Saturday, July 12, 2003, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. A subsequent seminar is scheduled for August 9, 2003. Registration is required and can be done by contacting the MODIP reservations line at (703)924-6588. The fee for this course is $10 per person for books and materials.
