MAJOR INCIDENTS

Abduction

Springfield Mall 6500   A man approached a woman in the parking lot of Springfield Mall, produced a gun and forced her to drive to an ATM to withdraw money. Then the man forced the victim to drive to Prince George's County, Maryland, where he sexually assaulted her. A similar incident was reported at Springfield Mall on January 24.

Assault

Telegraph Road 7600   Fairfax County Police charged a 14-year-old Lorton area girl following an incident which occurred at Hayfield Secondary School on February 25. A school employee and the School Resource Officer were interviewing the girl, who is a student at the school, about a larceny which had occurred at the school. The girl became disorderly and hit the school employee. A second school employee came to assist and the girl pushed and hit him. The school resource officer attempted to arrest the student but the girl resisted arrest and struck the police officer. A! fter she was taken into custody, a knife was found in the student’s coat. She was taken to Juvenile Intake where she was charged with assault on a police officer, possession of a concealed weapon on school grounds, two charges of assault on a school employee and obstruction of justice. Neither the officer, nor the employees were seriously injured.
