Franconia Road, 5100 Block:  On Monday, January1 at about 4:40 p.m., two men robbed a cashier at Advance Auto Parts, located at 5117 Franconia Road. The men entered the store; one of them picked up a soda and presented it to the cashier. The 40-year-old employee opened the cash register and the second man ran behind the counter. The suspect displayed a handgun to the cashier and took cash from the drawer. The cashier complied, and the men fled with an undisclosed amount of money. The suspects were described as black men in their 20s. The first suspect was about 5 feet 10 inches tall and approximately 145 pounds. He was last seen wearing a gray sweatshirt. The second suspect was between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall and about 260 pounds. He was last seen wearing a gray and white hooded sweatshirt and a black baseball cap.

MALICIOUS WOUNDING/BURGLARY

Alamo Street, 6300 Block:  Officers and detectives have been investigating a malicious wounding crime, which occurred on Christmas Eve. The detectives have canvassed the Springfield area as part of that investigation and uncovered a burglary that took place on December 24. 2006. Detectives learned of a man who entered a home through an unlocked front door in the 6300 block of Alamo Street. At approximately 8:30 p.m., the man entered the house and appeared to be surprised when confronted by the homeowner. The suspect told the 33-year-old victim that he was hungry and was looking for food. The suspect left a short time later and was last seen walking southbound on Alamo Street. Detectives released a composite sketch of this suspect to the news media and are seeking the community's assistance in identifying the man. Copies are also available at the Franconia District Station. Detectives believe this suspect is also responsible for the malicious wounding that occurred in the same community a short time later. The suspect is described as a Hispanic man in his early to mid 20s, about 5 feet 4 inches tall and weighing about 170 pounds. He was described as having a stocky build, a medium complexion and a light mustache. He wore a nylon jacket which was red and blue in color, dark blue jeans and a baseball cap. He spoke Spanish and broken English.
