He Bore 12 Battle Scars: Charles Henry Dear

By Eric W. Buckland

Charlie Dear was born on July 26, 1846 in Rappahannock County, Virginia and died on January 5, 1929. He packed an enormous amount of living into all of those 82 years, but certainly the time from early 1863 when he joined Mosby’s Rangers until May 17, 1865 when he received his parole from the United States was the most eventful. This booklet is a collection of personal accounts about events during the War Between the States that were written by him.
