CHAMBER RAISES $1,500 FOR SCHOLARSHIPS
The Platte Canyon Area Chamber of Commerce raises money for the “Chances” Scholarship, primarily from the proceeds of a silent auction held at their membership mixer events. This mixer at Sweet Fanny Adams on Sunday afternoon raised in excess of $1,500. Donations for the silent auction ranged from a mountain bicycle to a six-pack of Billy Beer. Above, Lynn Griffin (left), of Sudz Laundromat, challenges Linda Henley of Moore Lumber for the six-pack of Billy Beer. That brand of beer, no longer in production, was first made in the U.S. in 1977 by the Falls City Brewing Co. and promoted by Billy Carter, the younger brother of then-President Jimmy Carter.
